Anthropologie Inspired

Confession. I've been into Anthropologie twice in my life. I realize walking into their store is like walking in a dream. When it comes to forking over the high dollar though, I'm not your girl. There are occasions when I don't mind to spend a little more but typically if I have the choice, I'll choose the less expensive route so that I can spend a little more on my beloved fabrics. When I moved back south, I left my box of fabric at my parents to get on the next trip. It was either pack the fabric or pack a puppy. No brainer. 

Anyway, I was thrilled (enter real life squeal here) to pick up some fabric earlier this week to start on a project that was inspired from the goodness that is Anthropologie. Have you seen this apron floating around on Pinterest? I have and I fell in love when I first laid my eyes upon it.

I took matters into my own hand. I created from scratch my very own Anthropologie inspired apron. I used what sewing skills my mom has taught me and what I've taught myself, made a few subtle design changes and an afternoon later I had this.

This describes my little pup so well. He is almost always at my side. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I can't tell you the joy creating brings me. The last two days I have been sitting at my computer doing lessons of real estate continuing education to renew my salesperson license. Ugh, all I want to do is sew and I plan too all weekend!

Hi-Lo Skirts

The weather here in Florida has been quite awesome. For some reason when I packed for six weeks I didn't bring a lot of fun warm-weather clothes. I didn't bring winter boots and sweaters, but very casual shorts and boyfriend tees. There is nothing wrong with this look, it's my favorite, but I've been in a comfy/casual look slump for a while. Too long actually. 


Before we started dating, the mr. said one of the things that caught his attention (besides the camo shorts) was that I dressed up. I don't tend to do that too much anymore because we usually don't have many places to go. Now due to our lack of a full functioning kitchen we tend to dine out most nights of the week in turn I have a reason to dress up again. Plus I know my husband likes when I put in a little bit of effort to look nice for him. 


So since I've started sewing and we are a little bit settled here I've been dying to make a skirt or two. I received an email the other day with some dresses/skirts and I fell in love with the style. The Hi-Lo style. The Pinterest search began. Here is what I found for my skirt making inspiration....now if only there was an easy tutorial online. I'll just have to do some experimenting. But please if you've seen one, send it my way.

With a Twist

If I come across an idea and I know I can create something similar, I usually don't waste any time. If you follow me on Pinterest you will see this on my Make It board. It is fun to take something you see and put a twist on it, making it your own. Some twists work better than others but its fun to experiment sometimes at the cost of frustration along the way. Trial and error is not optional in creating. Have a little looksy.

I'm sure you'll see these again maybe in a little shop I've tried starting twice, third times a charm. You know football season is just around the corner, I'm thinking some school pride color combos. MIZ..... anybody, anybody? Well okay then. Go Tigers!
