With a Twist

If I come across an idea and I know I can create something similar, I usually don't waste any time. If you follow me on Pinterest you will see this on my Make It board. It is fun to take something you see and put a twist on it, making it your own. Some twists work better than others but its fun to experiment sometimes at the cost of frustration along the way. Trial and error is not optional in creating. Have a little looksy.

I'm sure you'll see these again maybe in a little shop I've tried starting twice, third times a charm. You know football season is just around the corner, I'm thinking some school pride color combos. MIZ..... anybody, anybody? Well okay then. Go Tigers!

NEW Blossom Necklace

Sometimes I have absolutely no idea what a project of mine will turn into. This might be my favorite party about creating. It is about evolving and adjusting and going with what you have. Not everything I make turns out, I just choose not to show that here. Although I could start a spin off blog of craft projects gone wrong. What I was getting at was that a simple hair barrette has been transformed into this dainty lil' summer accessory. The Blossoms them self are less than 1" in diameter. They are on a 15" chain with white satin ribbon to tie for an adjustable length.

 It is so precious.

Now I have to get my little fingers busy and get ready for the Chocolate Ball.  It is less than 50 days away. How many do you think I can make before then?

Philipians 4:13
"I can do ALL  things through Christ who strengthens me."

Time Is Not Free

Is anyone out there trying to live on a budget?
Do you hate how expensive things are these days?
Have you ever bought something you know you could make yourself?
I answered YES to every single question.

A phrase I had written in a previous post has been echoing in my mind since then. CRAFT HOARDER. I am unbelievably blessed with all the items necessary to create just about anything I want. One thing I do not have just lying around is time.

I work Monday through Friday approximately 8:30 a.m until 6 p.m. Thursdays are flexible and a 4-6 hour day which I then use the rest to do most of my crafting, errand running, and shopping. Saturday and Sunday are also free days, unless of course I am traveling, which happens a lot during baseball season.

This is what I have. BEADS. BEADS. BEADS!

If time were unlimited I would make this necklace in many different shades and sizes until all the beads were gone. Its casual or fancy perfect for any season.

The fact that this necklace retails for $78 and I could make it or 15 more for free irks me. But time isn't free, is it? Anyone looking for volunteer work? He He, but seriously.

I Can Do This

I love reading and finding blogs. It is like a hunt for a good bargain. Instead it is a hunt for a blog that I just get lost looking though older posts and finding all kinds of creative inspiration and in the mean time wasting countless minutes hours reading and researching. I guess this makes me a blog hunter. I am learning all sorts of tips and tricks about linky parties and giveaways. Did you know there were conferences for creative bloggers? Oh.My.Goodness. I would be in hog heaven at one of those. Hmm...maybe in the future. A girl can dream, and trust me I am, BIG. It is so great at the same time because I hopefully will be able to use some of this information for my upcoming wedding. Don't worry, I have NOT forgotten about that. It is only a little over six months away. Eeeek!

So I find an idea and see if I can create something similar or with a twist of my own. I know I should stick with the LuxeBlossoms and really crank them out, maybe find a craft show and market them like crazy (hello I do have a Marketing degree). And I plan too its a sloooow process so bare with me. Anyways, on to one of my latest finds I found and said, "I can do this."

I found this weeks project from one of my favorite blogs Tatertots and Jello by Nina.

Here are two of my versions of this great handmade adorable necklace. I am going to try it with the clear gems as soon as I can get to the store but for now, this is what I have stock piled (craft hoarder in denial) from a different friend of our family that I inherited for FREE. It kills me that hardly any of them can work for this necklace.

Now add this with an $2.50 plain tank from Forever 21 and you look fab for any occasion.

Did you notice how my version has a nice spring LuxeBlossom? I couldn't resist! Oh-la-la these are so fun and fresh for spring. Now excuse me while I go and raid my mom's fabric collection for some of those Blossoms I keep talking about. Okay fine, I'll ask first! :)
